When will Indian woman be out of this...??
A female pt. of age 28 yrs came in hosp. with her relativesC/O cut wound at lt. forearm,
bleeding & pain at that site
H/O knife cut while cutting vegetables(as told by pt.)
O/E a large & deep wound showing muscle mass, no tendon cut & 3-4 minor abrasions (suggestive of hesitation cuts) are observed.
Again the history was taken deeply by assuring the pt. in the absence of her husband & other relatives, suicide attempt was found.
Pt. & her relatives refused to do MLC.
Written consent was taken from them & T/T started further..
T/T- stitches were needed at larger wound under local anaesthesia.
New stepler technique was preferd.
My senior Dr.Rakesh was guiding me.
Meanwhile we both were talking with pt. & she seemd much relaxed...
At a point she asked a question to both of us....'doctor, he doctor whayla kitvi shikayla lagtay?' (doctor, how much one hv to study to become a doctor like this?)we, 'khup, ka?' (lot, why?) pt., 'mazi 2 mule ahet, tyana pan doctor karaychay mala' (i hv 2 children, i wnt to make them doctor) that was the answer we both stayed still..... 'He asa mulana doctor banvaych sodun he kay karun ghet hota? Kitihi kahihi zale tari mulancha vichar tar kara...' we said. (what were you going to do this? Don't you had the thought of your children while doing the suicide attempt?) By these our words she started crying & said, 'mulancha vichar karun karun tar 3 varsh ya mansabarobr sansar retla...., nusta daru piun yaycha, gharcha kay vichar nai...' (due to the only thought of my children, i m living with my husband frm last 3 years.... & he is not taking any responsiblity of house, wasting money on alcohol...& so on) really what will say to this.... helplessness as a woman?.. .. .. What to say? A lady willing to teach alot her children doing suicide attempt?... ... Only question... Question & question.. ??????????? no answer???
